You mentioned moving Oracle application ?? I guess you meant Oracle database ...
I have moved Oracle 8.0.5 database in HP to 8.1.6 in AIX (RS6000). Did simple export and import. All the structure of the databases were the same. Since I was starting from scratch in AIX, I could follow the OFA architecture. Had no problems.
Good luck.
NOTE: we did not have any monster databases to move. The biggest database was 40-50 GB and the export was less than 2 GB compressed.

Thanx Sanjay for the response ... i meant oracle application as oracle databse ....
but confusion remain the same ... u have ported the databse from oracle 8.o to oracle 8.1 // .. i heard from someone that i have to upgrade oracle 8 to oracle 8i & then migrate the datablse to oracle 9i ... i don't know whether its true or not ... could u pls send me more on this ....
